This special edition, published in June of 2020, was originally intended as a set list for Independence Day, Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day celebrations.  I imagined it being helpful to musicians who visit Veterans Homes and other gatherings of Seniors.

I had no idea, as I worked on these arrangements in the early part of the year,  what this vulnerable population and their caregivers would suffer this year.  What realities our nation would awaken to this year.  These songs are important, neither as failed ideals nor as feel-good nostalgia, but as a serious call to remembering our duty of liberty and justice to all citizens.

These are songs of hope. They express emotion and desire, and not a few prayers for help in becoming what we have long pledged to be.

Honoring country, flag, and the ideals of liberty, service and sacrifice, this collection of songs is dedicated to the United States of America: her citizens past and present, and especially her veterans of service and duty.
